Phillip began working on various projects with KickCharge in 2019 and joined the team full time in 2020. He has always had a passion for graphic design and fell into the sign industry “sort of by accident.” From the beginning, he enjoyed helping sign shop owners with better designs for their clients. He learned by being observant and admiring the work of others, like Dan Antonelli. Seeing the work of other sign craftsmen in trade magazines like SignCraft inspired Phillip to be the best he could be at designing for small businesses. He still constantly tries to learn new skills and hone his techniques.
Phillip was raised in Michigan and now lives in the cornfields of Illinois. For two years, he and his wife Clare lived in Mérida, Yucatán, where they were able to work on their Spanish and enjoy the culture, history, landscape and people of Mexico.
He loves learning new things and skills. He believes we are made to never stop learning and enjoying our planet.
Two years of graphic design training at Careerline Tech Center
Phillip enjoys watching movies, playing old video games and reading books about history and nature, as well as some fiction. He has a tendency to buy musical instruments that he never quite masters, but he finds playing them relaxing. He also enjoys riding his bike, working in the yard, spending time with his wife and walking the dog. His greatest enjoyment is being in the outdoors in a canoe or fly fishing.
Phillip and his wife volunteer in Bible educational work, helping others better their lives. One of the greatest joys this has given him is being able to volunteer in the prison and help inmates become better people and citizens.
